Sakura, The Diamond, & A Little Fox

Take Me to the Moon 6.12

Previous Chapter / Next Chapter:

Fiona looked down at her second child, Sakura, Cherry Blossom.  She was a peaceful little baby, very calm.

Yuki was recovering well from the birth, and the family was having some family leave together, bonding.

They hadn’t known what to expect from Misa,

but he was quite pleased, and quite proud, to be a big brother now.

Back at the legacy house, Fearghus was wasting no time, now that he and Alyse had declared their love the night before.

“You know that movie line, you complete me?” he asked… “Well, I know it’s cheesy, but it is so true.”

“I’m not whole without you,” he said.

TS4_x64 2016-03-04 15-02-34-68

Alyse believed him, because she felt the same way.  They’d been almost everything to each other, their whole lives.

“Will you marry me?” he asked, on one knee, in supplication.

“Get up, you,” she said, pulling him towards her, and kissing him.

“Yes,” she said, with a twinkle in her eye.

They grinned like crazy, thinking of all the trouble they could get into now, as the ultimate partners in crime.

They started with the closet.  And Alyse moved in that night.

Other than Fearghus’ muscly body, she got lots of use out of the pool,

and the piano

A few days later, Zoe was soaking in a warm tub, breathing deeply through contractions.  Somehow, in twenty-something years, she’d totally forgotten how much it hurt.

TS4_x64 2016-03-04 15-25-29-78

Soon, she realized the bathtub wasn’t cutting it, and woke Fearghus to take her to the hospital.

The boy at the counter was taking way too long to check her in.

“Do you realize what a high risk pregnancy this is?” Zoe uncharacteristically fussed.

TS4_x64 2016-03-04 15-50-54-82

“Fox,” she named him.  A little dark-eyed boy with her skintone.  She wondered what features of Ewan she would be able to see, as he got older.

TS4_x64 2016-03-04 15-56-01-22

And as she held Fox, she wished with all her heart Ewan could see him, could be here to share this.

Fearghus, like Misa, was quite pleased with his little sibling, and relieved his mom and Fox had safely come through the birth.

TS4_x64 2016-03-04 15-58-08-65

He knew, beyond a shadow of a doubt, Alyse and he would be Fox’s parents, for most of his life.  His mom was frail.  But then again, with Fox to care for, she had a new motivation to keep her young.

“Don’t worry, little brother, I’m here.”

TS4_x64 2016-03-04 15-58-34-29

Alyse helped, without being pushy.  When Zoe was napping, she quietly changed his diaper, and talked to him.

TS4_x64 2016-03-04 16-49-42-36

“I love you, too, Little Fox,” she said.

Gameplay Notes:

  •  Alyse and Fearghus are SO cute together.  They are definitely meant to be.
  • The MC Command Center “pause on active labor,” worked!  I was able to zip over to Fiona’s for Sakura’s birth, and name her, and see how everyone was doing.  I didn’t stay long at all because of Zoe’s age, but it was nice.
  • I wanted Zoe to give birth at the hospital, but I seem to have a glitch, which I am guessing has something to do with Fearghus being in the medical career.  The only available interactions, once she arrived there, were career interactions. She was not able to register or give birth.  So I took her back home.

Oh, Sakura is a pretty name and it seems to really suit her as well. So she has Yuki’s skin tone and maybe Fiona’s hair colour? I don’t know if you can use eyebrows as a guide in TS4 like you can in TS2 (you couldn’t in TS3). And Fearghus and Fox will have a really special relationship, I bet. I can’t wait to see it develop.

I hope this is the right decision for Fearghus and Alyse! I can’t help but still feel wary about her, to be honest. Don’t mind me – I’m very attached to Fearghus and I don’t want anything bad to ever happen to him!

    • Good question, Carla, I need to pay more attention to whether baby’s eyebrows are the same as their inherited hair color. Since genetics in this game is not as transparent as it was in Sims 2, I haven’t been as interested, which I miss. That’s interesting they didn’t carry that over to Sims 3, but Sims 3 babies were also more an object than sims 2 babies, right?

I’m excited about Fox, too, it will be nice seeing how he develops and like you say, his relationship with his brother.

After all the pain Fearghus went through with his broken heart, it’s no wonder you’re cautious for him. I appreciate your comments! I think from playing Alyse it is more reassuring to me, that she’s not going to flake out, than it is to you, reading these relatively short updates.

      • Carla says:

Hmmm, no, I think in terms of what you could do with them, TS3 babies were roughly equal to TS2 babies. They were in those little blankets, so you couldn’t see their legs but you could watch TV, talk on the phone and talk to other sims while holding them, which sort of made up for that. And you could walk around with them, rather than being confined to the area immediately around the crib, as in TS1 and TS4. For whatever reason though, they didn’t pay much attention to the babies’ faces. Their eyebrows were just blurry, vaguely brown messes and I think their eyes were always the same colour, no matter what the genetics (at least, I was never able to predict eye colour by looking at a baby). I’m not surprised they’ve skimped on the genetics in TS4 – it continues what they did with TS3. :\ It’s a shame. 🙁

Ha, that is true! It’s hard to get a real idea of how sims are interacting in game from a short update. But for me, it’s partly also because I loved Elsa and I’m still missing her a bit. 😉

  2. Yeah, it’s a shame they skimped on babies like they did in Sims 4. Elsa is also really nice too. I think she is much more sensitive than Alyse and would have been distressed every time Fearghus had his insecure feelings, which he gets frequently. They don’t faze Alyse at all. She just ignores it or does something playful or flirty with him to get his mind off of it.

  3. Welcome babies! And Misa grew up cute too!

Baby eyebrows are painted onto the skin, btw. So like everything else, they have nothing to do with the child’s actual genetics. :\

It makes sense that after everything, Alyse and Fearghus would move forward quickly. It makes me feel more trustful of her intentions too (not that I distrusted her, exactly, but I was cautious!). If she had been wishy-washy still at this point, I would have worried about it. It was especially reassuring to see her bonding with Fox, since I’m sure she’ll play a large roll in his upbringing at some point.

And I can see how Alyse might be a better fit for someone with insecurities. It can be a disaster to have two sensitive personalities together. Usually one has to be the grounded one in a couple.

  4. Why oh why paint the babies’ eyebrows instead of having them be generated by genetics?! Oh yeah- it’s easier. Disappointing. But thanks for filling me in on that, Laura.

Alyse and Fearghus probably would move quickly, once they got through the awkwardness, and this is a legacy so they have to get moving and bring Gen 7 into the digital world, lickety-split.

  5. I so hear you about babies! In Sims 3 baby eye color isn’t even genetic, which makes me crazy. There is now a handful of CC baby hair, which I think really adds to the game, since otherwise all babies are identical except for skintone.

Watching Alyse and Feargus together makes me feel all bubbly. I think you’re right. The fact that Alyse is more playful than sensitive probably gives her some insulation from Feargus’s Jealous trait.

Welcome Fox. I can’t wait to see his face as he grows up too.

  6. That’s a great way to phrase it, Susan, that her playfulness insulates her from Fearghus’ issues. She’s got great boundaries about her self, not hesitant to speak up for the space she needs, although as a teen, with Fearghus, she expressed that playfully rather than trying to explain it to him verbally.

Yeah, for those of us who enjoy seeing genetics play out, the move to painted on eyebrows is sorely disappointing. You and Carla both pay even a lot more attention to genetics than I do, but I really enjoyed the Mendelian system in Sims 2. There are some custom babies for Sims 4 too, but they are just for effect, you know, with different clothes, faces, hair. I might use them in Simdale Valley to have variation but in the legacy it isn’t worth it, since they are only babies for about 3 game days.

I can tell you that Fox is adorable, as a child. Thanks for commenting, Susan!

  7. cathytea says:

I like the sparkles of the home birth!

  8. Me too, Cathytea, and I like home births better anyway.

  9. just a question 🙂 where is felicity? she hadn’t been appearing in the story for a while 😀 or I missed her somehow 🙁
