Take Me to the Moon 6.25
Elise Tesla Tate passed away, following her Ranen into the unknown. He was from the planet Kepler 442-B. Elise is survived by her beloved freeze ray gun. Elise and Ranen also leave a daughter, Fiona, two grandchildren, Sayuri and Misa, and a daughter-in-law, Yuki. Elise was a scientist who turned to a life of crime after failing to save her mother, Delaney, from death.
She was Delaney and Alexander’s second child, the younger brother of Ewan Tesla, who went on to open his own art gallery, and the older sister of Eric Tesla.
From an early age, Elise showed an interest and aptitude in the scientific method.
And a propensity to argue with her big brother, Ewan.
As a young woman, Elise often had her nose in a book
And as soon as she graduated from high school, she got a job at Future Tech Science Labs, where she developed a rudimentary knowledge of chemistry and botany, and crafted her trusty ray gun.
With which, she brought considerable social embarrassment to her family, using it on those she considered to be in need of reductive behavioral consequences.
It was on one ordinary day at the lab, when she met Ranen, a fellow scientist. By all accounts, it was a case of mutual attraction at first sight.
Elise and Ranen met up at the local diner after work that evening, and Elise was delighted to learn that Ranen was an alien from the planet Kepler 442-B.
Before dawn, Elise proposed
And a few days later, Ranen, in his true form, and Elise, committed themselves to each other at a sacred rock in the desert by taking solemn vows.
Ranen and Elise moved into the subterranean lab at her family’s home.
Soon after their vows, both Zoe and Elise were abducted by aliens. The family, particularly Ewan, was angry with Ranen. However, Ranen explained that the aliens that abducted them were a different species, who didn’t agree on the ethics of Ranen’s people, and felt justified in running experiments on humans without consent.
Elise returned from her abduction a little dazed, but excited about the experience she had.
Then she and Ranen decided to start a family of their own. Soon after, Fiona was born, with her father’s purple skintone, and her mother’s haircolor.
Fiona did not inherit her father’s alien powers, but she did inherit her mother’s sassy attitude, and Fiona and Elise butted heads frequently.
Still, those were happy days when the family spent lots of time together and Delaney was still making regular space missions
Cacey had returned from the Wolff legacy, and Alexander had brought Maddi and the other ancestors back by hacking into the Gallery.
Elise was making discoveries in her work with cloning and had gotten several promotions at work.
However, the happy days did not go on indefinitely. Not long after Fiona became a child, Elise had her first run-in with Death, setting on a path that dominated the direction of her choices and her life from then, on.
Her father, Alexander, argued with Death when he came for Maddi Tesla.
Death, however, put Alexander in his place, and told him that it was not his place to try to tinker with the limits of his or his family’s existence.
Elise determined that she would continue her father’s effort to take life out of the hands of Death and game programmers, and into her own hands. And she had an excellent theory of how to do it.
After months of work, she cultivated a Death Flower, unfortunately, too late to save her father, who died in the meantime.
When Death came for her mother, she presented the fruit of her labor to him, expectantly, triumphantly, believing she had finally won for herself, and for her father.
Death granted her wish and her mother returned to life. Elise was ecstatic. The whole family celebrated, except for Ewan, who was worried that upsetting the natural order of things was a mistake.
Less than an hour later, Death turned on Elise, and took her mother anyway. Elise was livid. In blind rage, she attacked Death, and he went away, apparently defeated, but her mother was still dead.
From that moment on, Elise became more and more obsessed with the darker applications of her science, and gaining power through trafficking biological weapons. Her family reached out to her, but she pushed them away.
And became a shadowy figure who was feared
Only Ranen and Fiona continued to reach out to Elise
But they could not compete with her hunger for power and knowledge
The family knew she was busy brokering shady deals, and they rarely saw her at home and not in her lab
Elise went to work for a new lab, as a team leader for biological weapons.
She reigned terror over her team
And eventually the only person she could call a friend, was Ranen.
Although she made an appearance at her daughter Fiona’s and Yuki’s wedding, Elise rarely made contact with any of her family, and didn’t even meet her grandchildren when they were born.
Months before her death, she showed up at a party at her nephew, Fearghus’ house, after her brother, Ewan, had passed away. Alyse, hearing that she was wanted by the police, asked her to leave, and Elise held her head high, and left without an argument.
Knowing Fearghus’ aunt didn’t have long to live, and hoping to reconcile before her death, Alyse and Fearghus invited her to his next birthday party. Fearghus reached out to his Aunt Elise, and let her know how much he would always remember her.
Elise left the party feeling hopeful about the family’s future, and when she passed away, a letter to Fearghus and Fiona was found in her will.
To My daughter, Fiona, and to Fearghus,
Please share this letter, upon my death, with Eric’s Ashlee, and with McKenzie, Darwin, and Marisa Arias, who have helped care for Eric and I in our old age. My executor, Desmond Goth, will compensate them monetarily for the loss of the house and grounds, as explained in my will. As you know, this property, formerly Mom’s and Dad’s place, was my inheritance when Ewan bought your current estate with his inheritance.
I write this, knowing it will not be long before I face my old adversary again, and am forced to admit I have no more theories, no more tricks up my sleeve, no more pride.
I hereby donate Mom and Dad’s place, with mom’s silo, the observatory, and all the labs, house, works of art, and grounds, to the community to be preserved and utilized as a museum. Let it stand as a testament to Mom and Dad’s discoveries, both in outer space and inner space, the frontiers of the galaxy as well as the human heart and the nature of our existence. Let it stand to a testament of Ewan’s exploration and development of his skill at rendering what mattered to him in the form of painting, and to the human spirit, which always strives to make a better world for our children, and which our parents did each moment, through their love for each other.
I do not know if you are aware of this, but when death was imminent, Ranen launched Mom’s Apollo rocket, with my permission, and returned to Sixam. So you will not find the rocket there, and that is why.
