Take Me to the Moon 5.37

This is the last chapter for Generation 5.  Next up, Heir Poll!

Previous Chapter / Next Chapter:

“Hey, why didn’t you answer my text?!’ Fearghus said to Alyse.

“Because I’m in school,” Alyse retorted.

“You’ve gotta come to the bluffs, it’s fun!  C’mon, it’s not the same without you…” Fearghus added with a twinkle in his eye, trying to charm Alyse.

Alyse said she was not leaving school, and Fearghus was most likely going to end up in big trouble.

“And now the teacher’s going to take my phone for having it out in class,” she hissed as she pressed “End.”

Fearghus climbed to the top of a stack of rocks and looked down into the pool.  His shadow looked so tall, but he felt kind of small standing way up there, with nothing to hold on to.  The wind was cold today, and what he really wanted to do was crawl down, put on his clothes, and go home.

TS4_x64 2016-01-06 05-59-18-31

He looked down at Elsa.  There was no way he was not going to jump, not with Elsa there.   She’d dared him to skip school, and he did not want to jeopardize his cool kid image.

TS4_x64 2016-01-06 05-58-52-80

He flung himself into the air, arms over head, but he forgot to go headfirst.

TS4_x64 2016-01-06 05-56-51-84

It was a good thing there were lots of reeds between him and Elsa, so she couldn’t see him hit the water, belly first.

TS4_x64 2016-01-06 05-57-32-63

After he collected himself, and got his breath back, Fearghus called to Elsa.

“Hey, come on, scaredy-cat!”

TS4_x64 2016-01-06 06-00-33-07

She swam over.  “The water’s really cold,” she said.

“I’m gonna get out.”

TS4_x64 2016-01-06 06-01-10-85

“You get used to it,”Fearghus told her, knowledgeably.

TS4_x64 2016-01-06 06-00-51-96

“Well, I’m gonna jump in again,” he said.

“I don’t care, I’m gonna dry off.” she said.

TS4_x64 2016-01-06 06-01-58-35

Meanwhile, Fearghus’ absence had generated an automated call home from the school, alerting Zoe that Fearghus wasn’t there.

While she was trying to figure out where he would have gone, instead of school, she got a call from Mrs. Bjergson, Elsa’s mother, saying she was absent.  But Mrs. Bjergson thought she knew where the kids were.   Elsa’s big sister had seen Fearghus and Elsa coming back from school and heading to the bluffs as she left for school.  Elsa’s mom said she was at work, and would get there as quickly as she could.

TS4_x64 2016-01-06 06-25-21-12

The bluffs were just up the coast from Elsa’s house, but Zoe was the first parent there.

“What were you thinking?!” she asked Fearghus, relieved to find them, and mystified as to why he would do something so foolish.

TS4_x64 2016-01-06 06-18-25-72

Fearghus kicked the grass and looked down.  Elsa looked miserable.

TS4_x64 2016-01-06 06-19-02-49

“You could have been snatched, you could have gotten lost, or hurt… ” Zoe didn’t even know what else to say to convey how upset she was.

TS4_x64 2016-01-06 06-18-53-27

“It’s my fault, Mrs. Tesla.  I invited Fearghus.  Our family comes here all the time and –“

TS4_x64 2016-01-06 06-16-58-76

Elsa was going to add that it was a fun place, but she realized that would not impress upon Fearghus’ mother that they really weren’t in danger here.

For a moment Zoe just looked at Fearghus in disbelief and disappointment.

TS4_x64 2016-01-06 06-17-40-40

Elsa bravely asserted herself again.  “So you see, we really weren’t in danger, Mrs. Tesla.”

TS4_x64 2016-01-06 06-16-47-48

Zoe uncharacteristically resorted to sarcasm.

“Oh,  how silly of me, I thought skipping school and swimming with no adults or lifeguards around, when no one knows where you are, was dangerous.”

Fearghus was pretty surprised to hear his mom talk to his friend that way.

TS4_x64 2016-01-06 06-17-28-75

Zoe looked right at Fearghus, no humor in her voice now.  “You are in big trouble, at home and at school.”

TS4_x64 2016-01-06 06-18-31-34

While Zoe called the school, so they would know the children had been located, Elsa had pulled her clothes on over her swimsuit.  She felt badly they had gotten in trouble.

“Thanks for standing up for me,” Fearghus said.

TS4_x64 2016-01-06 06-03-33-21

She just looked at him.  Skipping school just hadn’t turned out the way they’d pictured it.

TS4_x64 2016-01-06 06-03-22-31

As soon as Fearghus got home, Ewan was there, early from work just to talk to him.

TS4_x64 2016-01-06 06-29-10-76

“Mom already lectured me,” he said angrily.

TS4_x64 2016-01-06 06-27-44-99

Older parents have the benefit of a little bit of emotional distance when kids are sassy, or say nonsensical things.  Ewan didn’t take it personally, and he calmly walked over to the bed to sit down as he waited for Fearghus to calm down so they could talk.

After a minute or two, Fearghus began to feel self-conscious.  He knew what he’d done was foolish, and that he shouldn’t have done it.

“I’m sorry,” he muttered.  “We thought it would be fun.”

TS4_x64 2016-01-06 06-31-10-95

“Do you have any idea how worried we were??” Ewan asked.

TS4_x64 2016-01-06 06-31-34-27

“You’ve got to think about consequences, and use your head,” he told Fearghus.

TS4_x64 2016-01-06 06-32-07-07

Ewan moved to sit next to his son.  It seemed like Fearghus realized he’d messed up, and he hoped he’d be less impulsive next time.

TS4_x64 2016-01-06 06-33-14-63

“You know, we love you,” Ewan said.  “You and your sister are the most important people in the world to us.”

TS4_x64 2016-01-06 06-34-18-18

He added gently.  “And you are grounded for the next two weeks.  Except for school, of course.”

TS4_x64 2016-01-06 06-34-09-02

Alyse didn’t know what to say.  She didn’t want to rub it in, and Fearghus was bummed out.

TS4_x64 2016-01-03 17-00-12-76

But while he was hanging around the house, grounded, he got to spend some extra time with Uncle Ranen.  He learned that his Uncle Ranen was very excited about a genetics project he was doing, something about extracting genes from two eggs and implanting them in a carrier…

Gameplay Notes:

Fearghus got an invitation from Elsa to play hooky at the Bluffs.  In the game, parents don’t really get phone calls from the school, but I thought it was more realistic that they would get caught.  I did have Fearghus call and invite Alyse to skip with them, but the game said she was busy.  This is how Alyse, Fearghus’ best friend, looks as a teen (she aged up the midnight before Fearghus).  She got Musical Genius, Muser, Slob, and Gloomy (which she already had).  I think she’s SO cute!

Echoweaver Alyse portrait

This is Elsa as a teen.  She has very deepset eyes.  She aspires to be an angler, and is a friendly genius.

TS4_x64 2016-01-08 06-22-15-87

This is Lucas, their other friend that has also aged up.  He’s a party animal snob that loves the outdoors.

TS4_x64 2016-01-08 06-43-43-85

  • Fiona may have finally found someone who is interested in her.  She and Felicity went out to the arcade the night before they aged up to young adult, and Fiona and Yuki really seem to have a connection.  They are romantic interests now.  I think that the game engine is now generating romantic interests for her, realizing she is gay, because when they first met I didn’t see any interest on Yuki’s part, or hers, but as soon as this lot loaded they appeared to be into each other.

  • Next post, Heir Poll!  I have decided to move the family to another lot, possibly multiple lots, depending on who wins the heir poll.  The lot they’ve been at since Delaney was a young adult is getting a bit of a lag and I’m ready for a change of scenery.  In the heir poll next week, I’ll share where Fiona, Felicity, and Fearghus plan to move. Depending on who is chosen as heir, different members of the family may move with them to the new lot, or move to their own lot.  It is a challenge to play so many sims, and we have to make room for Generation 7!

Oh Feargus. If your friends all wanted to jump off a bridge, would you do it too?

I love Alyse! It’s so much fun to see my simself’s daughter as a character of significance in the story. Nice to see that she was responsible and went to school, especially since it was clear that they would be caught.

Feargus is so much fun, but I have to admit that my favorite is still Fiona. I love her combination of computer geekery and outgoingness. Also her impulsiveness, which Feargus has in droves too.

    • I know you are a big Fiona Fan and she is really cool with her tech savvy, geekiness and outgoing fun personality! I will be content with any of the three winning the poll. Any of them would be fun to play and I can still have the others go visit or have each other over to the house frequently. And yes, Alyse was quite sensible here. Thanks for commenting!

I’m really excited to find out who’s the heir! Did Ewan and Elise share being heirs or was it one of them?

    • Hi Anon! Elise and Ewan did share the heir-ship. I just couldn’t choose between them, and the household wasn’t too big. But now I’m ready for a change to a smaller household. It’s hard keeping up with so many sims! Thanks for commenting!

  3. Carla says:

Definitely more realistic that Feargus and Elsa got caught! Kids, especially that age, are never as clever as they think they are when they play hooky (which we refer to as “wagging school”). I caught a kid wagging once, because she thought a great way to spend her lunch time was to wander down to the school and have a chat to her friends over the fence. So dumb, lol!

But anyway, gosh, we might have to watch out for this Elsa, huh? Could be trouble!

Alyse looks really cute as a teen! What is the Muser trait? I would have assumed it was similar to Gloomy but seeing she’s also Gloomy, maybe not?

Excited about Fiona and Yuki! Maybe Yuki didn’t realise she was into girls. It wouldn’t be unusual at that age. Lots of people don’t figure out their sexuality until they’re a little bit older.

    • That’s hilarious, and so typical of kids that age! She probably thought it wasn’t much fun to “wag” without talking with her friends. Or maybe she missed being at school. So funny.

Elsa was the leader of the group Fearghus has hung out with all his childhood, until just before this, when Fearghus was able to take over as leader. But then the next morning she called him to skip school. I loved the reactions when Zoe and Ewan were lecturing them, especially when Elsa perked up and was explaining to Zoe, since she’s the one that initiated it. I was pretty impressed with the game engine there.

Muser is the bonus trait that a sim gets for being a creative aspiration, and it just means that they work at a higher skill level when they are inspired. Gloomy makes them sad occasionally, which actually does have a benefit for creativity, I believe.

Me too, I like Yuki a lot anyway, and very excited about her and Fiona. I don’t think she’s aged up quite yet but yeah, good point, the way it turned out so far in the game does kind of go with the way a lot of people develop in their sexual identity. It’s just something I’ve been noticing about the game engine– I think it is programmed to some degree to be responsive to those kinds of things, adapting to the way the active sims are being played. Thanks so much for commenting, Carla!

I loved the call from the school! Our district also has that automated notification system! Poor kids these days–we had such freedom when we were kids!

Also… YUKI! That’s so awesome. I’d already cast my heir vote before reading this chapter, and this new development with Yuki just confirms to me that I made the right choice! Yay!

    • Ha, it’s true, everybody it seems is held more accountable these days… it is different from how I remember it being in the good old days when you could bounce around in the back of a station wagon without a seat belt.

So happy that you voted for heir (& for Fiona, she is awesome). I’m looking forward to seeing if it works out with her and Yuki. I’d love for Yuki to join the family and I think they’ll have cute nooboos. Thanks for reading & commenting 🙂

The bluffs are gorgeous! And I totally knew they were busted! Too bad the game doesn’t have them call when kids are missing from school. I agree with Carla, kids that age don’t quite think about the consequences. I really enjoyed the heart to heart with Ewan, he’s such a sweetie, even if he’s a giant worry-wart. ;p And wow Alyse is gorgeous, and I really like Elsa too, she looks like she’d be up for a bit of trouble! Curious what these kids will get into now that they are teens.

    • Ha, Ewan is a giant worry-wart. But he was so calm in this situation for once. He wasn’t in one of his blue moods. Alyse is really intriguing looking, right? Thanks for your comments, Maisie!
