Take Me to the Moon 5.37
This is the last chapter for Generation 5. Next up, Heir Poll!
“Hey, why didn’t you answer my text?!’ Fearghus said to Alyse.
“Because I’m in school,” Alyse retorted.
“You’ve gotta come to the bluffs, it’s fun! C’mon, it’s not the same without you…” Fearghus added with a twinkle in his eye, trying to charm Alyse.
Alyse said she was not leaving school, and Fearghus was most likely going to end up in big trouble.
“And now the teacher’s going to take my phone for having it out in class,” she hissed as she pressed “End.”
Fearghus climbed to the top of a stack of rocks and looked down into the pool. His shadow looked so tall, but he felt kind of small standing way up there, with nothing to hold on to. The wind was cold today, and what he really wanted to do was crawl down, put on his clothes, and go home.
He looked down at Elsa. There was no way he was not going to jump, not with Elsa there. She’d dared him to skip school, and he did not want to jeopardize his cool kid image.
He flung himself into the air, arms over head, but he forgot to go headfirst.
It was a good thing there were lots of reeds between him and Elsa, so she couldn’t see him hit the water, belly first.
After he collected himself, and got his breath back, Fearghus called to Elsa.
“Hey, come on, scaredy-cat!”
She swam over. “The water’s really cold,” she said.
“I’m gonna get out.”
“You get used to it,”Fearghus told her, knowledgeably.
“Well, I’m gonna jump in again,” he said.
“I don’t care, I’m gonna dry off.” she said.
Meanwhile, Fearghus’ absence had generated an automated call home from the school, alerting Zoe that Fearghus wasn’t there.
While she was trying to figure out where he would have gone, instead of school, she got a call from Mrs. Bjergson, Elsa’s mother, saying she was absent. But Mrs. Bjergson thought she knew where the kids were. Elsa’s big sister had seen Fearghus and Elsa coming back from school and heading to the bluffs as she left for school. Elsa’s mom said she was at work, and would get there as quickly as she could.
The bluffs were just up the coast from Elsa’s house, but Zoe was the first parent there.
“What were you thinking?!” she asked Fearghus, relieved to find them, and mystified as to why he would do something so foolish.
Fearghus kicked the grass and looked down. Elsa looked miserable.
“You could have been snatched, you could have gotten lost, or hurt… ” Zoe didn’t even know what else to say to convey how upset she was.
“It’s my fault, Mrs. Tesla. I invited Fearghus. Our family comes here all the time and –“
Elsa was going to add that it was a fun place, but she realized that would not impress upon Fearghus’ mother that they really weren’t in danger here.
For a moment Zoe just looked at Fearghus in disbelief and disappointment.
Elsa bravely asserted herself again. “So you see, we really weren’t in danger, Mrs. Tesla.”
Zoe uncharacteristically resorted to sarcasm.
“Oh, how silly of me, I thought skipping school and swimming with no adults or lifeguards around, when no one knows where you are, was dangerous.”
Fearghus was pretty surprised to hear his mom talk to his friend that way.
Zoe looked right at Fearghus, no humor in her voice now. “You are in big trouble, at home and at school.”
While Zoe called the school, so they would know the children had been located, Elsa had pulled her clothes on over her swimsuit. She felt badly they had gotten in trouble.
“Thanks for standing up for me,” Fearghus said.
She just looked at him. Skipping school just hadn’t turned out the way they’d pictured it.
As soon as Fearghus got home, Ewan was there, early from work just to talk to him.
“Mom already lectured me,” he said angrily.
Older parents have the benefit of a little bit of emotional distance when kids are sassy, or say nonsensical things. Ewan didn’t take it personally, and he calmly walked over to the bed to sit down as he waited for Fearghus to calm down so they could talk.
After a minute or two, Fearghus began to feel self-conscious. He knew what he’d done was foolish, and that he shouldn’t have done it.
“I’m sorry,” he muttered. “We thought it would be fun.”
“Do you have any idea how worried we were??” Ewan asked.
“You’ve got to think about consequences, and use your head,” he told Fearghus.
Ewan moved to sit next to his son. It seemed like Fearghus realized he’d messed up, and he hoped he’d be less impulsive next time.
“You know, we love you,” Ewan said. “You and your sister are the most important people in the world to us.”
He added gently. “And you are grounded for the next two weeks. Except for school, of course.”
Alyse didn’t know what to say. She didn’t want to rub it in, and Fearghus was bummed out.
But while he was hanging around the house, grounded, he got to spend some extra time with Uncle Ranen. He learned that his Uncle Ranen was very excited about a genetics project he was doing, something about extracting genes from two eggs and implanting them in a carrier…
Fearghus got an invitation from Elsa to play hooky at the Bluffs. In the game, parents don’t really get phone calls from the school, but I thought it was more realistic that they would get caught. I did have Fearghus call and invite Alyse to skip with them, but the game said she was busy. This is how Alyse, Fearghus’ best friend, looks as a teen (she aged up the midnight before Fearghus). She got Musical Genius, Muser, Slob, and Gloomy (which she already had). I think she’s SO cute!
This is Elsa as a teen. She has very deepset eyes. She aspires to be an angler, and is a friendly genius.
This is Lucas, their other friend that has also aged up. He’s a party animal snob that loves the outdoors.
- Fiona may have finally found someone who is interested in her. She and Felicity went out to the arcade the night before they aged up to young adult, and Fiona and Yuki really seem to have a connection. They are romantic interests now. I think that the game engine is now generating romantic interests for her, realizing she is gay, because when they first met I didn’t see any interest on Yuki’s part, or hers, but as soon as this lot loaded they appeared to be into each other.
- Next post, Heir Poll! I have decided to move the family to another lot, possibly multiple lots, depending on who wins the heir poll. The lot they’ve been at since Delaney was a young adult is getting a bit of a lag and I’m ready for a change of scenery. In the heir poll next week, I’ll share where Fiona, Felicity, and Fearghus plan to move. Depending on who is chosen as heir, different members of the family may move with them to the new lot, or move to their own lot. It is a challenge to play so many sims, and we have to make room for Generation 7!
