RE: Art Appraisal
Have arrived in Forgotten Hollow. On the way from the train station, was warned to “flee with your mortal life & soul intact,” by obviously superstitious locals. I expect that the fog and bats, and general run-down state of the environment, spooks the ignorant.
This mansion is the motherlode. I’d say the Von Haunt place pales in comparison. I’ll be back in San Myshuno within the week, and have news of specific shipments. Tell the crew “good work” getting my art appraisal credentials in circulation. I almost feel guilty for preying on this poor elderly woman, Ms. Morai.
Email sent from Absinthe Morai to Grayson Tesla:
“We are planning an estate sale after the recent death of Count Vladistraus. Given your name as a reputable art appraiser. Please advise fee. Accommodations provided by Count’s Estate while completing appraisal.”
Letter, from Absinthe Morai, to Caleb Vatore.
Although I am aware of your propensity to advocate for the rights of the mortal in our fitful battle for existence, I must tell you, I have summoned one such soul, though not blameless, to Bloodkirk Manor, for the purpose of furthering our existence, even at his expense.
As you know, and I am sure you must sympathize, Count Vladistraud has not been well for decades, perhaps even a century, as the living measure the passing of time.
After I was chastened for public drinking, and banished to a long hibernation, I awoke to find our Count in a state of shock and grief, lethargic with the weight of moral dilemmas.
I took it upon myself to summon a mortal to the castle, for the purpose of re-energizing our Count’s will to survive.
At the same time, I cannot deny I have my own reasons, and that both simple lust and a more diffuse hope of further immortality, beyond our shadowed existence, are among them.
Please do not judge me harshly, friend.
Not everyone possesses the restraint, or even, the perspective, you embrace.
Yours, if not in moral fortitude, in enduring passion,
This amazing mansion was built for the lot where Vladistraus lives, by Acelyah. It is called Bloodkirk Manor. The detail and intricacy of the floor plan is mind-blowing, with a full chapel, multi-level basement tombs, and beautifully decorated inside and out.
I created Absinthe Morai, based on the vamps who haunted Jonathan Harker at Castle Dracula in Bram Stoker’s book.
