Take Me to the Moon 7.1

Previous Update / Next Update:

Grayson was doing his extra credit work, enjoying the quiet, reassuring company of Alfred the Llama.

Fox came in, like he was approaching counsel.

“I think I’m ready,” he said.

“To take Rosie out for karaoke, like she asked,” he filled in, when Grayson looked at him blankly.

Grayson realized this was the perfect opportunity to instill false confidence.  Fox was gullible, and he really wanted to hear that he was ready to impress Rosie with his budding singing skills.

“Why not?” Grayson said.  “I’ve heard you singing in the shower, and it sounds great.”

A confident smile spread across Fox’s face.

“Thanks, man,” he said.

Fearghus walked into the hospital for another day of work.  The orderly and receptionist were doing what they did best… chatting for hours on end, as the line of patients to be checked in grew longer and longer.

Fearghus attended to a pediatric patient who was coughing,

and then got sent on a home visit.  Apparently, an epidemic had broken out and everyone in the house was sick.

Fearghus checked vitals.

Just as the hospital staff had expected, it was ‘flu.  He doled out medicine to help make his patients more comfortable, and returned to the hospital.  Unfortunately, most of the workday was done, and Fearghus still hadn’t been given the opportunity to do surgery.

Later that evening, Fox and Rosie arrived at the uptown Karaoke Bar, which was, luckily, the site of a karoake contest.  Fox entered feeling very confident, with Grayson’s words still bolstering him.

Fox enthused to Rosie about the opportunity to be in the contest.

She declined to join him, saying she wasn’t sure if she wanted to get up in front of so many people.

Undeterred, Fox jumped up before anyone else could take the mike, and began to sing “Funky Sims”

The audience seemed to like him.  Fox was enjoying himself.

He was really getting into the song, lyrics and dance moves

Rosie was watching him from the back.

Fox was announced as the winner!

Rosie came to meet him as he got to the edge of the stage.

“You were amazing,” she said

She swooned.

Fox gave a suave, debonair kiss on the hand.

And then, asked her to go steady.  She said yes.

“It was beyond my wildest dreams,” Fox confided in Grayson.

Grayson was astounded.  He just stared at Fox and tried not to grimace.

When Fearghus arrived home, he was dejected from another day without a promotion.

Alyse told him, “Don’t give up, it’s going to happen”

Gameplay Notes:

  • Fox winning the karaoke contest was really unexpected.  He only scored 3/100, but he did win.  And Rosie did agree to go steady with him, so he got a step closer to his Serial Romantic aspiration (have a girlfriend/boyfriend).  I don’t know if the confident moodlet he got from Grayson “instilling false confidence,” helped with the karaoke, or what!
  • Poor Fearghus, he’s been stuck at General Practitioner for so long, and it is so hard getting an opportunity to do surgery!
  • Fox has two days till his young adult birthday.

I had a feeling of dread build when Grayson was encouraging Fox that it was definitely time for his karaoke date. I’m glad it turned out the complete opposite way I (and Grayson) was expecting!

With a score of 3/100, I guess everyone else must have been even worse? LOL.

    • Yes, I was sure that Fox was not going to win the karaoke contest and I suspected he was, at best, going to be passable, but I think the confidence Grayson instilled in him made a difference in spite of his skill level. I think he’s at level 2, though, and if singing is a 5 point skill, a high 2 like him might be decent. It was fun seeing him triumph and Grayson be flabbergasted, because Grayson is quite smug most of the time (although he doesn’t have the snob trait). It was an unexpected turn of events as I played.

The townie with the pink hair, and blue ankle boots is a social networking celebrity and has high singing skill, so I guess there’s an element of randomness to the contests or she would have been a shoe-in. Thanks for commenting, Carla! And Happy New Year 2017!

I’m with Carla, I really thought that the false confidence was going to end in disaster! It makes me think of Ron Weasley in Harry Potter when he believes that he drank the Liquid Luck, then performed amazing, but really hadn’t. I’m glad that it worked out well for Fox. She’s a cute girl, so it’s all the better than he didn’t fail. Grayson being flabbergasted is pretty funny, he does have a tendency to look like a snob without actually being one!

  3. I love the hair you put on Grayson. Is that from a pack or CC?

False or not, that boost of confidence seemed to do the trick for Fox. I haven’t tried the karaoke contests yet. Was anyone else competing? Maybe he won by default, lol! Rosie is really cute, so I’m glad he got to impress her.

    • Thanks for reading, Laura! Grayson’s hair is from the Vintage Glamour stuff, I think. I really like that pack. As for the karaoke contest, there were a couple other contestants, and I know pretty confidently that the townie with the pink hair has high singing skill because in another save game that’s just a copy of this game, I played her household. But the false confidence still gave him a confidence emotion, so I think that is what helped him win, maybe that and a bit of random luck that is figured in.

  4. Echo Weaver says:

Hah. Grayson is so good at instilling false confidence that it becomes the real thing. Or perhaps that’s bad at it….

Didn’t look like Fox had a lot of competition in the contest. ☺️

    • Susan, yes, you’re right, I think there was only one other contestant, or maybe two. But true, I really thought “instilling false confidence” backfired on Grayson here because (as I see it) Fox is so gullible that he believed him enough to actually perform better. And he did have a confident mood, which did boost his performance. It’s good to see you around and I hope you are well!

      • Echo Weaver says:

Overall, I’m well. I’m just overwhelmed. This job is the most intense I’ve ever had. There’s a lot of change going on in life. I’m struggling a bit with balance. Before I really needed more challenge. Now I think I’d do best with a bit less. But I’m hoping that things smooth out over time and get less stressful.

        • Change takes a lot of energy, and new jobs are a lot of work; plus if this one’s extra intense, that’s even more challenge. I hope things smooth out for you too. I know you’re doing a great job and knowing you, you’re managing a steep learning curve. I wish you well!

  5. Well, looks like Grayson’s plan turned against him after all, lol!! But I have no fear, he will spread the chaos sooner or later! 😁
