Take Me to the Moon 6.2

Narrated by Fearghus Tesla, Spectacular Gen 6 Heir

Lately I’ve been rethinking my choices.

TS4_x64 2016-02-02 16-59-16-56

Lucas and Max stopped me after school one day, outside the gym.  They wanted me to join the Renegades.

TS4_x64 2016-02-02 05-38-41-83

I knew the Renegades was all about excluding people who weren’t in the club, and playing pranks on them, even being mean, but I didn’t want them to leave me out.

TS4_x64 2016-02-02 05-37-28-47

Max said, it really wasn’t like that.

TS4_x64 2016-02-02 05-37-54-41

Lucas said, I owed them that.  After all, we were friends all through childhood.

TS4_x64 2016-02-02 05-39-29-26   But as soon as I agreed, Lucas got this look on his face.  I knew he was up to something.

TS4_x64 2016-02-02 05-40-45-07

I had to head home. It was mom’s birthday, and lots of people were going to be there.

TS4_x64 2016-01-31 12-34-11-83

My mom is amazing.  I think she knows everybody in Three Rivers and she’s includes everyone.

TS4_x64 2016-01-31 12-34-38-92

I don’t think my parents look much different, now that they’re older.  They’ve just got gray hair and a few more wrinkles.

TS4_x64 2016-01-31 12-35-35-30

Probably, mom is doing so well because she’s always eating healthy and doing yoga, or swimming.  Even for her birthday, mom made a low-sugar carob cake.  Uncle Desmond was like, “it’s not even chocolate!”

TS4_x64 2016-01-31 12-38-21-76

Uncle Eric and my friend, Elsa, sat with my sisters.  I don’t know what they were all talking about but I felt self-conscious to go over there since they didn’t invite me.

TS4_x64 2016-01-31 19-56-22-55

I thought about inviting Alyse to dance, but she looked like she was in a mood, eating by herself on the sofa.

TS4_x64 2016-01-31 20-02-19-03

Dad was happy to see his cousin, Dashle again

TS4_x64 2016-01-31 19-59-30-82

After everyone left, mom and dad were just soaking up each other’s presence, like they do.  I wonder if I’ll ever have something with someone, like what they have.  Sometimes I feel so left out, to be the only one at the house without romance.

TS4_x64 2016-01-31 20-41-06-72

When they got ready for bed, Grandma and Grandpa headed to the bathroom and broke all the plumbing.

TS4_x64 2016-02-01 05-26-55-54

They’ve done this several times since we moved in.  I never remember seeing them this angry and bored at the old house; I wonder if they are upset with us for moving.

TS4_x64 2016-02-03 05-55-42-43

Grandma Delaney seemed happier after she broke all the plumbing, but she still kept spreading the trash around

TS4_x64 2016-02-01 05-28-02-34

And Grandad really seems angry, which isn’t like him at all.

TS4_x64 2016-02-02 05-02-57-96

Poor dad, he was so tired, but he stayed up fixing it all.  I felt guilty, not helping, but I was so tired from school, working out, and everything else I have to do.

TS4_x64 2016-02-02 05-03-45-39

Then, I had to leave because the guys called and invited me to the pool to hang out with the club.  When I got there, they said the Paragons were there, and we should give them a hard time.

That just wasn’t going to happen, and so I headed to the high dive instead.

TS4_x64 2016-02-02 16-58-46-11

It was like an epiphany moment.

TS4_x64 2016-02-02 16-59-16-56

If I’m going to be happy with my life, I’ve got to take some responsibility.  In the old house, everything always got taken care of, with Felicity, Fiona, mom, dad, and even happy grandparents looking out for me.  Now it’s time for me to decide who I am, and start looking out for others.

I quit the Renegades.

I joined the gym, and I started working out early in the morning before school.

TS4_x64 2016-02-02 05-42-32-80

I started cleaning up after myself.

TS4_x64 2016-02-02 05-47-37-04

I noticed mom and dad are getting tired more easily, because they’re getting old.  So I told dad, I’m going to help out around the house more,  but he should work out, it would make him feel better.  I don’t think he gets that.  If only my parents would realize, I know what I’m talking about!

TS4_x64 2016-02-02 05-50-48-27

I held up my end of the bargain anyway.

TS4_x64 2016-02-02 05-52-33-47

I started by cleaning my bathroom,

TS4_x64 2016-02-03 05-33-00-40

and I even started cooking for myself!

Gameplay Notes:

  • Fearghus is a mid-teen now, he’s got about 6 days left before young adult.  He had finished the first level of the Bodybuilder aspiration by that point (I’ve played ahead a couple more days now).  I switched him to that because when I moved funds with them from the old house, it fulfilled his wealth aspiration, which disappointed me because I wanted him to have to work for it.
  • He’s actually gotten a fair number of emotion buffs from his jealousy trait, like this one, that made him feel sad around his parents because they were a couple and he doesn’t have a significant other.

TS4_x64 2016-02-02 05-48-01-17

  • Fearghus was invited to join the Renegades, and he joined, but even if I wanted him to be in it, which I don’t, because it is all about being mean, he really doesn’t have time for it, trying to finish bodybuilder, and he needs to work on logic and handiness to succeed as a doctor later.
  • Ewan finally got promoted to the level where he could pick a track.  He’s  an Artiste in Residence now, which suits him.

TS4_x64 2016-02-02 06-04-18-11 TS4_x64 2016-02-02 06-04-23-74

And he got this cool little piece of furniture for his studio!

Awwh, Fearghus is growing up. 🙂 And his parents does look great although they’re elders. The way ghosts keep breaking things always annoys me, in all my saves they do it all the time. So I hardly ever keep their graves around. :p
(I’m not on my laptop because of issues, and I can’t remember my password. But I’m Lexivita.. Oh, my icon popped up when I filled in my email xD)

I love this chapter! I think you did a great job with presenting the way that the jealous trait can express itself. And I really like Fearghus. What a cool way to realize that he needs to make some changes.

What do you think is up with the grandparent ghosts? Do they really not like the new house?

    • Hi Cathytea, I don’t know what’s up with the grandparent ghosts, but I know they are not acting like they did in life, or as new ghosts at the old house. I remember in Sims 2 I read you wouldn’t want to move a ghost, and I know we had to keep their furniture the same, especially their bed, or they’d go on rampages, so I designed my legacy house to have the same grandparent room and as sims became elders they moved there. It was also in a part of the house a little more removed to help cut down on the frequency of haunting in the rest of the house. But I don’t know if the new place is making them upset or something else. Thanks for reading, and commenting!

  3. Lexivita, thanks for commenting! I’m glad your icon popped up for you. It’s hard sometimes in a legacy to keep the graves out, and I have to admit I’ve put them away in inventories before to keep sims from constantly auto-mourning. My legacy isn’t kosher anyway 🙂

  4. Echo Weaver says:

Wow, that Jealousy trait is pretty sophisticated. I love it. It gives Feargus so much personality. I loved seeing him begin to figure himself out. I’m sorry his wealth aspiration was fulfilled by moving houses. That seems like a glitch. It does seem natural that he’d get into bodybuilding as an expression of his deep-set insecurity. I’m looking forward to seeing him attempt a real relationship. Will it be Alyse??

I wonder why the ghosts were all so upset. It’s interesting to read your comments about Sims 2 ghosts. Sims 3 ghosts don’t care where they are. I like to move every generation, so my ghosts have sat in a lot of graveyards at this point. I like the idea that ghosts would get upset at change in the household — in theory. In reality, it gets pretty old to be fixing stuff all the time.

    • I wonder too if he and Alyse will eventually get together. I would really like that… When she came to the housewarming party they had a bit of an argument, and another argument at Ewan’s birthday party, and then she left abruptly from the picnic and they haven’t seen her again lately. I need to write all that into the storyline, but I’ve been trying to get a sense of a reason. When I dictate what they do, they’re fine, but when I don’t, they’ve argued.

I thought body-building fit too, and it gives them the long-lived benefit, which I really want him to have so hopefully he can get to the top of the doctor career and see his grandkids.

  5. maisie says:

What a bummer that the ghosts are still acting up, they are definitely not behaving like themselves. It makes me think of Supernatural, where ghosts eventually all go bad in time. But I don’t know if EA was doing that, especially since you have ghosts older than Delaney? Or no? I know you lost some, and brought back past generations, so I’m not sure on length here.

The jealousy trait is great, wow. It really hits it on the head, and is nicely illogical, as you know, he is a teen, and it makes sense that he hasn’t found a SO to be with yet! He still has time! Plus perhaps Alyse would have liked to talk if he’d gone over, and I’m sure his relatives would have been fine if he came to sit by them at the table. But the trait matches perfectly, and is really quite indepth. I’m glad Fearghus won to be the heir, he’s a fun guy to read about.

    • Alexander brought back Maddi, the founder. We have her, Beatrice, and Cassandra’s ghosts. I lost Micah, Brad, and Delaney’s dad, Cedric, a second time due to culling when they died on another lot after being brought back. But Maddi, Beatrice, and Cassandra are not acting up, just Delaney and Alexander, who lived their whole adult lives at the old house. So it just makes me wonder.

Glad everyone seems to be enjoying the jealous trait and I agree, it is so illogical for Fearghus to be jealous of his parents’ relationship! It’s funny because he acts quite self-assured (although he doesn’t have the trait, but he does have social butterfly), but he is so insecure so often too. He is full of contradictions which make me wonder if what I’m writing makes any sense. Which also makes me appreciate everyone’s comments even more.

  6. Carla says:

Ha, I’m with Uncle Desmond on the carob cake! Carob tastes like disappointment, lol. But you know…birthday girl gets what she likes!

I’m really proud of Fearghus for his efforts at self-improvement and responsibility and for deciding to not to buy into the whole clique thing. When he does find a girl he likes, that is all going to have to be appealing to her!

I have heard that the jealous trait is pretty hardcore but it sounds sort of cool that they get jealous not just of their romantic partner being flirted with by someone else but also of other sims having a relationship when they do. Kind of weird that it was with his parents’ relationship but well…EA, lol! I wonder if it extends to other things? Another sim getting a promotion while they’re stagnating, for instance?

    • Ha, it is a sugar-free carob cake!

Your idea of getting jealous of another sim’s success is a great idea; I am not sure it is that well-thought-out, but I’ll let you guys know as I play Fearghus. Yeah, Laura’s sim Jeremiah has that trait and he is quite sinister. That last part, where Jeremiah came home, really worried me for Stephanie. I think Jeremiah’s other traits too that make it that way; isn’t he hot-headed?

Fearghus has the active trait and successfully completed Social Butterfly as a child (so he’s socially gifted), and I think the positive traits keep him from being hateful or controlling with the jealousy. Fearghus is an odd contradiction, because he makes friends easily and has high charisma, but he just always has that nagging insecurity and feeling of being slighted, underneath. Kind of like his dad’s gloominess, always adding a challenge to the way he sees a situation. I’m curious, too, if it will affect him in his career; since he’ll have the active doctor career we’ll get to see him at work.

      • Echo Weaver says:

Actually, that sounds like a very believable personality balance. A lot of people with very good social skills tip over into performing with people rather than just being with them, and they can harbor some pretty deep insecurities under the surface. You know, “They wouldn’t like me if they saw the real me.”

I don’t think it has to make Feargus a negative figure. He’s just a bit neurotic, is all. So am I 😉
